Just one week after it was announced that “True Detective” creator Nic Pizzolatto h ad been brought on board to work on the script, THR reports tonight that Marvel has shut down pre-production on next year’s Blade movie due to the ongoing WGA strike. Ryan Ridley (“Rick and Morty”) wrote the script for Renfield. The film co-stars Awkwafina ( The Farewell, Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings), Ben Schwartz ( Sonic, The Afterparty) and Adrian Martinez ( The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Focus). Chris McKay ( The Tomorrow War, LEGO Batman Movie) directed the movie.

Meagan wrote in her review of Renfield, “ It won’t reignite fervor for a new Universal Monsters resurgence, but Renfield makes for an entertaining enough time at the movies.”

Renfield will be available on at-home VOD ($24.99) beginning tomorrow, May 2, 2023. Universal’s brand new horror-comedy Renfield has been playing in theaters since April 14, and Bloody Disgusting has learned today that the film is already coming to VOD this week.
